Watch this video to learn how to maximize refrigerator space and keep all refrigerated foods fresh and delicious by storing them in the spots that are right for them.
Where should you store those fresh melons you just brought home from the farmers market? The best way to enjoy all that melon has to offer is to keep it fresh in your refrigerator. It is possible to freeze melon, but melon flesh is mostly water. When frozen, the water expands with each cell wall and breaks down the cell structure of the melon. Once thawed, the melon will no longer be able to hold its shape or have that crunchy goodness of fresh melon. Frozen melon is best used in smoothies, granitas and other recipes where the melon will be pureed.
Get your refrigerator in order, then find local melons and all sorts of fresh produce straight from the farm or farmers market with the free Pick Tennessee mobile app or at PickTnProducts.org.

OK – I keep my fruits and veggies in the crisper drawer – how do I know if it needs to be on high or low, as my crisper drawer has adjustments on it individually.
From Tammy Algood: Produce items that have a short shelf life and wilt quickly should be placed in the crisper drawer with the humidity level on high. These include fragile berries as well as leafy greens, herbs, eggplant, carrots, cucumbers, squash, etc.
Low humidity items are all other fruits, like apples, citrus, melons and any fruit with a pit (peaches, apricots, nectarines, cherries)
Hope this helps.
