Horse Creek
We are so grateful for your recent article about Horse Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and Animal Refuge. The response from people near and far looking to adopt dogs has been heartwarming. Considering our stated mission of helping the world through animals, adopting abandoned dogs to loving homes is a major factor in achieving this mission.
The recognition we received from the article in the June issue of The Tennessee Magazine has already resulted in several dogs finding “forever homes,” and the calls continue.
We have enjoyed The Tennessee Magazine for many years for the interesting and informative articles. It seems so little to say “thank you” for including us in your lovely magazine, but we thank you and for each and every resulting “forever home” for our rescues. “THANK YOU!”

Tennessee History
I really enjoyed the article in the July issue of The Tennessee Magazine by Bill Carey regarding the Crossville prisoner-of-war camp. This article was of particular interest to me because I was raised in a former German POW camp that held more than 40,000 men during World War II. When I was a child, the four roads coming into the little unincorporated town of Butner were called Gates 1-4, even though there were no longer fences or gates there. My relatives would tell stories of going to “check out” a POW to take to church with them on Sundays and then to their home for a big Southern dinner with their family before returning the German solider to the camp later that afternoon. In the 1960s, I also remember seeing former POWs vacationing in our rural area with their families to show them where they were imprisoned and coming to our Methodist church to thank us for the way they were treated so far from their homes. Thank you for the fine job you do with the magazine and for informing me about the Tennessee POW camps.

‘All in Flavor, Say Eye’
We received a few phone calls and emails about our use of “Aye” vs. “Eye” in the headline of the potato salad food feature in July. We realize that “aye” is grammatically correct when referring to a vote of affirmation and that “eye” refers to an eyeball. We were aiming for a pun with a “wink” to the eye of a potato.
Subscriptions
I used to live in Gallatin and received your magazine monthly. I recently moved to another county. I am wondering if I can still get your magazine at my new address. In particular, today I am looking for the section in the back that had events by region. I couldn’t locate an online publication. Can you help me with that? Many thanks!

Love the Magazine
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your magazine every month. I live in Nashville and have a small cabin in Smithville — so that’s why I receive your magazine. I look forward to it every month. I love the history lessons (fabulous), recipes from Tammy Algood and Almanac of Events — so many great events I would not know about. Thanks to you, I don’t miss these. There is no magazine like yours in Nashville that gives so much info in such a small publication. Thank you for a wonderful monthly magazine.
