Whether it’s “chestnuts roasting on an open fire” or you’ve “brought some corn for popping,” I’m sure your household is getting ready for the holiday season — a season focused on spending time with family and reflecting on the past year.
As we grow older, we learn that it is far greater to give than to receive. I still adore seeing the eyes of our grandchildren light up as they race toward the Christmas tree each year. The only eyes brighter in the room, though, are those of the ones who gave the presents.
The figurative eyes of your electric cooperative also light up through giving, but not just on Christmas. Every day of the year, your co-op gives back to the community. It’s all about making the communities we serve a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Through our efforts to provide you with reliable energy and internet, promote economic development and support local nonprofits, Gibson Electric Membership Corporation is constantly focused on giving.
The season, much like the lyrics above, also heavily revolves around food. Many of us can think back on holiday memories associated with food, whether it’s the breakfast held every year at Grandma’s house, cookies made with Mom or playing card games with cousins at the kitchen table as you snack on leftovers.
Food is also a big part of this very magazine. I hear frequently from readers of The Tennessee Magazine about the recipes that run every month. I encourage you to visit tnmagazine.org where you can find years of recipes to continue making memories with your loved ones.
We recently asked our employees to share their favorite recipes. You can find these special recipes on our Gibson Electric Membership Corporation Facebook page where you will also see instructions to submit your favorite recipes to be shared with members across our service area.
During this special season — and all year long — you can be confident that the teams at Gibson Electric and Gibson Connect are here to ensure that you have the energy and internet you need for the moments that matter most.
Our employees join me in wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday season and many blessings for the new year!
