Between the Stitches: A Sewing Workshop Series
Sat., April 27, 2:00 pm-4:00 pm
$15Join for a sewing workshop series at Wynnewood inspired by the book, All That She Carried. In that book, a handsewn sack is passed down from generation to generation providing a tangible connection for a family who endured slavery. Textiles are often handed down from generation to generation, and many people have had a “lucky” garment…that they wear, sleep under, and spend their lives close to fabric.
In this workshop series, participants put needle and thread to work preserving their own histories. Whether it’s learning to make a paper-pieced quilt from scraps of treasured textiles or honing your embroidery skills to pass down family wisdom in stitch form – honor your history by stitching memories and embracing “the space between the stitches”.
