“Live at the Lorraine” Music Series
Sat., August 3, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
The National Civil Rights Museum is hosting the “Live at the Lorraine” music series as part of its goal to highlight arts and culture and their contributions to the Civil Rights Movement past and present. Acknowledging music’s role in the heart of how the Movement mobilized and unified people, the Museum is presenting quarterly concerts as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage found in Memphis.
Featured artists are Karen Brown (November 4), J. Buck (February 3), Stephanie Bolton (June 1), and Tonya Dyson (August 3). Each ticketed concert features an evening of cultural and creative expression, which may include live painting, spoken word, or comedy, along with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Concert tickets are sold as a series bundle or individually.
The November series opener is Karen Brown, a local favorite who blends the soulful artistry of her church choir experience with the moving emotions of the great R&B legends and delivers a performance that is uniquely her own.
The February concert will feature J. Buck who distinguishes himself as a solo artist and songwriter with a unique stage presence, slick style, and electrifying performances.
With a nod to Black Music Month, the June vocalist is Stephanie Bolton, a Memphis native who is a world-traveled performer and recording artist.
The August series finale singer is Tonya Dyson, a cross-genre performer who wears many hats as an advocate for musical arts through nonprofit organizations, a neo-soul digital platform host, educator, and radio personality.
