Peaceful landscapes, close-up instruments and stunning sunrises are just a few of the subjects our photographers captured for the latest Shutterbug Contest — “Simplicity.” We asked our readers to show us what simplicity means to them. Our guest judge, award-winning photographer Lacy Atkins, and our staff sifted through more than 1,800 entries to select the winners.
The top photographs combine a grasp of technical fundamentals and the patience it takes to capture the perfect moment. Great lighting and timing are among elements that help make these images winners. Each one has essential elements: strong subject matter, good composition and interesting lighting.
We thank everyone who sent photographs for the contest. Be sure to take a moment to view the finalists, too.
