For our latest Shutterbug Photography Contest, “Smartphone Photography,” we asked our readers to test their skills by using smartphone cameras and photo-editing software in preparing their entries. Guest judge Lacy Atkins, an award-winning photographer, returned and helped our staff comb through more than 2,100 submissions to select the winners.
The top photographs prove that it doesn’t take gear costing thousands of dollars to create captivating photographs. The winners remained focused on fundamentals and patiently composed these photographs of engaging, entertaining subjects. We verified through metadata that each winning image was captured using a smartphone.
We thank everyone who sent photographs for the contest. We are also pleased to share these additional images recognized as finalists.
