Under the direction of Residential Energy Advisor Pat Garrett, employee volunteers from four DREMC district offices and headquarters gathered on Saturday, April 29, to undertake the seventh Weatherization Wizards energy-efficiency makeover.
Twenty-two employees and spouses (six “Wizards” are not pictured above) went to work weatherizing a family’s rural home near Chapel Hill. The team caulked, insulated, replaced lightbulbs and installed a new high-efficiency heat pump and ductwork. Clint’s Air Care of Chapel Hill provided the heat pump at cost.
Matt Pihs, an HVAC technician and husband of Shelbyville Member Service Representative Shelby Pihs, helped oversee the installation.
Weatherization Wizards is an employee-driven effort that seeks to improve home energy efficiency and comfort. The group tries to undertake a weatherization project each quarter.
